How Heart
of Hope started
In 2005
Dachung and Stefanie John met for the first time during a Discipleship
Training School with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Port Harcourt,
Nigeria. Coming from Germany Stefanie first had the desire and dream to one day
open a school for less privileged children in Nigeria at that time. After this
six month long course Dachung keep working with YWAM in their Jos branch while
Stefanie returned to Germany to continue her education. In 2008 she returned to
Nigeria for a visit. She decided to
return to Nigeria after my graduation and Dachung and I got engaged. In
February 2010 I moved to Nigeria and got married to Dachung six months later.
In 2011 Dachung and Stefanie joined Globe Mission. During the next six
years Dachung and Stefanie worked with YWAM in Jos, attended another six month
long training with YWAM in South Africa – the Family Ministry School and
spent one year in the UK for training and work experience.
In 2015
they started the preparations for the opening of our school and in September
2016 Kids of Hope School started with one class of 18 children. Shortly
afterwards the NGO Heart of Hope
was registered in order to expand the work. The goal of Heart of Hope is
to give hope by providing basic commodities like clean drinking water, health
care and high quality education for the less privileged.
